. >> this is the bay area's news station. kron4news at 11:00 starts now. the investigation of the asiana flight 214 crash. >> it went into a 360-degree spin. >> we were bouncing all over the place. >> reporter: amazing photographs of the heroic actions as she carried a passenger to safety.

the ntsb interviews all 4 pilots. 3 of the pilots were in the cockpit at the time of the crash. >> reporter: according to the ntsb, the pilot was making his first landing on a boeing 777. the training pilot was in the right-hand seat. there was a relieve first officer. the crew set the auto throttle to the required air speed. >> they set speed at 137 knots and assumed the auto throttles were maintaining speed. >> reporter: they realized the plane was too low and too slow.

they try to throttle up but it was too late. the tail of the plane struck the seawall. debra with the ntsb will analyze the data recorder. the wreckage shows the throttle was armed but doesn't mean it was malfunctioning. >> what needs to be monitored on an approach to landing is speed. we need to understand what was going on in the cockpit and with the aircraft. >> they don't require drug testing for foreign crews. the surviving passengers are at bay area hotels.

some shopping today. the staff at the crown plas plaza hotel went out of their way for them to be comfortable. there is very tight security there. >> reporter: passengers left on a tour bus and had umbrellas blocking their face. security was high alert. they manned the entrance blocking cars trying to enter. they were on foot but couldn't get far. they tell us they are similar to the red cross and help people in need. they received calls about the victims so they showed up to help. >> they have us here for a reason and we can't go in.

not even close to the front door. right over there where the police officer is. you can't get to the parking lot. >> reporter: those women couldn't get in the hotel. the organization will have a candlelight vigil for the victims. alicia reed. new pictures emerging of a flight attendant carrying a passenger on her back. they took them away from the downed carrier. another flight attendant who was the last person off talks about her experience.

>> first after the plane stopped completely i went into the cockpit to see if the captain was alive. i knocked on the door and the captain said he was okay. things were confusing. i said ladies and gentlemen our plane has completely stopped. please remain seated. the plane will not move anymore. here is the part that is interesting the fact that when she asked if the pilot whether they said start evacuating he said no. why would the pilot delay evacuations. one of the evacuations shoots

boeing 777 and was landing at san francisco for the first time ever. the copilot was on his first flight as aninstructor. the two flight attendants that were ejected remain in the hospital. travelers are still facing flight delays days after the crash. kron4 jeff bushes on scene. when can we expect the 4th runway to reopen? >> reporter: pam, ultimately that is up to the ntsb. airport officials hope it will be sometime in the middle of next week. >> very frustrating. >> reporter: many made their

way to sfo and delay was the word of the day. >> it was put up after hour, then another hour, then delayed another hour. >> reporter: jack and has passengers were the latest to arrive at sfo later than they hoped. they were caught up in slow motion travel. >> we went from manchester and delayed in philadelphia and arrived here now through a connecting flight. we have lost 3 days. >> reporter: it is tougher with kids. >> i prefer for them to be safe, but we have a 10 and 7 year old and they are exhausted. you have to grin and bear it.
